Vancouver City Council has indicated their continued support for the Renewal of Britannia Centre

To move this project forward, we need the same commitment from the Vancouver School Board and Vancouver Park Board… then we all need to seek the funding to make a new Britannia Centre happen!

We need all of our representatives on City Council, the VSB and the Park Board to continue to hear why Britannia needs Renewal

Tell them why the Britannia Renewal matters to you…

Tell Them: Britannia Community Centre needs Renewal. The Centre is a vital part of our community. We need Renewal now.

Where is Britannia at?

Nearly 50 years ago, the students of Britannia and many community leaders came together to fight for a community centre to serve the people of our historically under-served inner city neighbourhoods

Britannia Centre has brought so much to this community ever since, despite very limited facilities and resources (we don’t even have daytime access to a gymnasium)

Our pool, rink, library and other facilities are reaching their End-of-Life and we have no room to welcome new people or activities into our Centre. The Renewal was a plan to replace and expand Britannia Centre, so that it can continue to meet community needs

The Renewal would have brought an advanced and expanded aquatics and fitness facility, along with a community gym and gymnastics annex, Indigenous arts and culture spaces, a new and expanded library, a state of the art ice rink, a black box theatre and performance space, a community dining hall served by a commercial kitchen and a dramatic expansion of arts production spaces, meeting and activity rooms, social service infrastructure and community workshops and incubator spaces, not to mention 140 new childcare spaces – a generational change for this community

Our buildings are crumbling, we need to move the Renewal forward now!
